After a fire damaged a large part of their home, this couple called me to help give them a new, fresh and updated look while they remodeled their 6,500 square foot house. We started on the third level, which is where they spend most of their time. The rooms that needed help were the kitchen, family room, dining room, living room, office, two bedrooms, a bathroom, master bedroom and master bathroom. The second phase of the design project will include the second level of their home which consists of a movie theater room, media room and game room. These photos are of the living and dining rooms, the spaces that greet you as you enter through the front door. The owners wanted a clean, crisp, contemporary vibe with greys, blues and violet as the color palette. All furniture, finishes and décor had to be purchased and replaced as a result of the fire damage with the exception of the living room sofa and chair and the dining table. We started on the third level, which is where they spend most of their time. The rooms that needed help were the kitchen, family room, dining room, living room, office, two bedrooms, a bathroom, master bedroom and master bathroom. The second phase of the design project will include the second level of their home which consists of a movie theater room, media room and game room. This is the homeowners kitchen and eat in breakfast area. These are the original cabinets, but we had them stained a darker color, replaced the hardware and brought them all the way to the ceiling to alleviate that space (dust catcher!) above the old cabinets. Countertops and appliances remain from before the fire to save on expenses. The glass tile backsplash and set of cabinets with glass insets are new. We also took down the old fluores...

All furniture had to be replaced in the family room. We also replaced the flooring with new carpet. A new custom sectional in slate blue seats the owners guests nicely as well as the extra seating in front of the window. Artwork was purchased by an artist on Etsy and new accessories were carefully chosen to lend a comfortable, yet sophisticated feeling. Everything in this space is new. The homeowner wanted a bit more drama in this space so we created high contrast with dark, navy painted palls juxtaposed against white, bright, glossy furniture. I have severe bruising at the moment from kicking myself. Hard. There I was Thursday lunch time scouring Gumtree for the last few minutes before I knuckled back down to it, and what should I find but this incredible original wall unit listed. Best bit, it was going for free. Yep, that's right FREE. And to put the icing on the cake, the owner had already disassembled it and had it neatly stacked ready for collection. The ad was fresh, just listed. I was just about to pick up the phone and put dibs on it, when I had to head downstairs for a meeting. Damn it all to hell and back. And sadly an hour or two later, it was gone. Oh this would have been splendid in the Splendour. But I guess it was not to be. Boo hoo. So how has your week been? Brilliant, I hope. New Living Room / Dining Room Paint Colour

A month or so before Christmas I finally took the plunge and repainted all of the slightly-too-bright-always-bothered-me-yellow that was all over our main floor. I know I gave you a little snapshot of the new colour but I never took the time to take some nice, daylight photos of each of the rooms in their lovely new gray. So here's a little tour.
